Productivity Improvement

Business Challenge

A large healthcare laboratory had a need to replace aging equipment in order to meet increasing customer demand. In addition, the new equipment had to achieve significant productivity gains so as not to increase the cost basis of the process.

Solution

The team conducted a detailed analysis of the equipment capacity. This led to changes in the process and standardized procedures across the various production shifts. In addition, the team examined the usable life of similar equipment across the entire organization. By redesigning the equipment management strategy, the team was able to increase the quality and effectiveness of the new equipment as well as extending the useful life of existing equipment.

Business Outcome

This project successfully generated $2.5MM and had an ROI of 2 months.
